I recently spent a delightful stay at Fair Rigg in the Lake District, right over Christmas. This lovely Victorian guesthouse, steeped in charm, offered stunning lake views and a serene backdrop of the fells, perfect for winding down after great days out hiking with my family. Our hosts, Christine and Richard, were incredibly welcoming, providing insightful local tips, and the complimentary English breakfast was a delicious highlight-especially my porridge with honey and cream! The room was immaculate, featuring all the amenities we needed, including a kettle for our evening brews, and with our daughter nestled comfortably on a big bed, it felt like a home away from home. Although we were just a short walk from bustling Bowness, the peaceful setting meant we could simply relax on the patio, soaking in the views as the sun set across the lake, a stunning natural spectacle. Fair Rigg truly encapsulates the essence of eco-tourism while allowing guests to enjoy the best of the Lake District. I'll be returning without a doubt!
